    Public access to the Kingston Locktender’s House is available from April to November each year. In the winter months of December, January and February we are open only for special events and for members and archivists to work on research and improvements.   • KHS Annual Meeting December 6 2022
    The 2022 Kingston Historical Society Annual Meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 6 at 7 O’Clock PM. The meeting will be “hybrid” – in person at the Kingston Firehouse and also virtually by Zoom. After a very brief business meeting including reports and election of Trustees, there will be an illustrated program: The D. & R. Canal State Park: Sustaining a Key New Jersey Asset.   The program includes two Powerpoint presentations, one prepared by Millstone Valley Preservation Coalition (MVPC) members and one by the Canal Park Historian of NJ DEP Division of Parks, Forestry and Historic Sites.     Thank you to all who attended the Kingston Picnic on August 27,2022. As evening fell the Kingston Park, behind the Laurel Avenue school, was filled with conversation, community and music. We ended the event with a showing of KINGSTON:Crossroads to History (see end of post) 1 0

    The May 21st walk around Kingston was cut short due to dangerous heat. It will be rescheduled for cooler weather. 0 0

About the evening The Kingston Historical Society hosted an evening panel discussion featuring stories of Main Street through the eyes of longtime residents. Led by Anne Zeman, the panel included Sharon O’Donnell Hansan’s family owned and operated the Union Line Hotel. George Luck, Jr., former Chief and 50-year member of Kingston Fire Department Theresa Russo is a third generation Kingstonian.   • Tree Lighting 2021
    Thanks to the Kingston Womens Chorus and all who attended the December 5, 2021 Holiday Tree Lighting by the Kingston Lock. Once again, the event was outdoors only, but the gathering was warm and joyful. Here are some photos from that night: Thanks to Kirstin Ohrt for the photos. 0 0
  • Holiday Tree Lighting, 12/5/2021
    Join in the celebration! The annual Holiday Tree Lighting will happen, December 5, 2021 at the Kingston Lock, 4:30 PM with outdoor music and familiar faces! There will be music and carols outside, thanks to the Kingston Womens Chorus.
  • Locktender’s House Open Weekends
    The Kingston Locktender’s House is open to the public every weekend through the end of November. The Locktender’s House will again be open on Saturdays, Sundays and major holidays from 10 am to 4 pm through November. The Locktender’s House is not open during the winter. Until further notice, all visitors should respect NJ State Park policy, which requires ALL visitors to wear masks indoors.     The KHS annual Holiday Open House and tree-lighting had long been a well loved Kingston Community tradition. Unfortunately, due to the Covid -19 pandemic we were unable to have our traditional Holiday Open House, but we were able to have a “socially distanced” community holiday tree lighting; furthermore, thanks to the generosity of Karin Linder, who provided new lights for the tree and the McParland family, who provided the essential lift to install them on the 65 foot tall tree (which had outgrown its old lights several years ago) the tree was properly and beautifully lighted.     KHS members, fellow Kingston resident, and many others attended our annual Holiday Open House and Tree Lighting December 1st, 2019 at the Locktender’s House on the D&R Canal. They enjoyed holiday refreshments, decorations by the Kingston Garden Club, the annual tree lighting, and music by the Kingston Womens Chorus. 0 0
